Timing yourself to paint can produce interesting and surprising results.
Try giving yourself a limited time to complete a painting.
20 - 40 minutes is a good place to start.
I found I was less concerned with getting the colours right and I didn't get bogged down in the details (which I usually love).
It's the perfect practice for Artists with a day job!
